Fr Colm is leaving Mullingar after nine years
It was announced last week in the diocesan clergy appointments that Fr Colm Browne will take up his new responsibilities as curate in Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath on Friday 3 September.
He will be succeeded in Mullingar by Fr Padraig Corcoran, who has served in Tullamore for the past three years.
A native of Navan, Fr Colm was educated at Saint Patrick's Classical School, Navan and Maynooth College. He was ordained a priest in June 2001 and his first appointment brought him to Mullingar, initially as chaplain to Midlands Regional Hospital and Saint Loman's, and six years ago as curate in the parish in succession to Fr Sean Henry. Among his parish duties, Fr Colm had particular responsibility for Walshestown church and cemetery, where he oversaw a number of renovation projects. He has served chair of the Boards of Management at Saint Brigid's School and Saint Colman's National School and, in more recent times, as chaplain at Saint Kenny's National School.
We are very sorry that Fr Colm is leaving us. We will miss his gentle presence, caring manner and good humour. We wish him well in his new ministry, that the Lord will bless him in his work. We look forward to welcoming Fr Padraig and we hope that he will be very happy in his new home.
