A Parish Week: From Football to Poetry!

There are lots of things happening in our parish these days! Last Saturday evening the Tyrone football team stopped in Mullingar to celebrate mass with Fr Robert (pictured above with Fr Robert is Séan Cavanagh their captain and Mickey Harte their manager.) The prayers must have had a positive impact as Tyrone won by two points on Sunday. Mickey Harte who is an inspirational speaker will be giving a talk in our parish later this year!

During Catholic schools week, there was a celebration of our faith. Pupils from across our parish had an opportunity to explore their faith in the context of education and a chance to share some of their talents! There were a variety of new experiences from singing and dancing to some more experienced sharing with grandparent’s day! A student from our parish wrote this poem:

We Go to Mass to Pray

Jesus is our Lord,

Christ is our God,

Bread is our food,

Wine is our drink.

Sharing is caring,

laughter is friendship,

loyalty is listening,

understanding is behaving.

The Dove is our symbol,

of love, peace and joy,

The Holy Spirit is the 3rd,

of the Blessed Trinity,

that we care for.

We go to mass to pray,

Some people go to mass every day.

It’s good to pray,

but try to pray everyday.

Sick is well ,

Hello is bye,

Church is home,

and praying is life.
