Great work in parish schools
Mullingar parish attended the launch of "Catholic Schools Week" project in Dublin on 20 January 2014.
The idea of the project is to provide an opportunity for parish schools to focus on their Catholic ethos or identity. The project also provides resources to help primary and secondary schools with this task.
The launch heard from Bishop Denis Nulty and Dublin footballer Ger Brennan, who speaks openly to young people about what his faith means to him.
Among those taking part in the launch were Mullingar catechists David Gavin and Sr Annette O'Brien.
Fr Belisario, recently arrived in Mullingar from Colombia, also attended. He has served as a catechist in his native diocese.
Meanwhile, three important faith-related events are taking place in the Cathedral this week.
On Monday 20 January, Orla Walsh presents a talk to parents of children who will receive the sacrament of Confirmation on 5 April.
On Tuesday 21 January, Elaine Mahon will give a presentation to parents of children for First Confession (7.00pm) and First Communion (8.00pm). The First Confessions wil be celebrated in the parish for children in first class in March and First Holy Communion will take place for children in second class after Easter.
We are very grateful to Orla and Elaine for their good work and also to the parents for their participation in the faith formation of their children.
