Service of Prayer for Christian Unity
St Paul's Church hosted a unique gathering of Christian leaders and representatives on Sunday 20 January. Fr Paul Crosbie presided at the Service of Prayer for Christian Unity and welcomed the leaders from the principal Christian communities in Mullingar, including Rev. Alastair Graham from the Church of Ireland, Rev. Stephen Lockington from the Presbyterian and Pastor Arun Kumar from Christian Fellowship. The Coptic Orthodox Church joined in the Service for the first time, represented by Fr Pemen from the St Athanasius Monastery in Delvin, who read the Gospel text in one of the ancient languages of the Holy Land.
Choirs and musicians from the various Christian communities joined in the celebration. Speaking at the end of the Service, Fr Crosbie thanked all you took part and stated that "there is a strong bond of unity expressed when Christians pray together in the name of Jesus".
An Ecumenical Prayer Service will take place on Wednesday 23 January at 8pm in Rathwire Church and a Public lecture on Forgiveness will be presented by Dr. Robert Enright, Director of the Forgiveness Institute, USA in All Saints' Church on Sunday 27 January at 8pm.
